Private Tuition with Wildlife Artist Eric Wilson

Would you like to learn how to paint wildlife? Perhaps I can help you.

I offer exclusive one to one private tuition in pastel, oils or acrylics. It has taken me a lifetime to master the
secrets of such things as rendering fur accurately or capturing an animals expression or mood. It has been a long
road for me but it doesn't have to be a long road for you. I can help you get there a lot quicker by sharing with
you all that I have learned. I genuinely enjoy teaching and at this stage in my career I am happy to help others
and to encourage a new generation of Wildlife Artists to produce new and exciting work.

I tell each student I have that the day is to be 'their' day and I will tailor make each day to suit the individuals
specific needs. From complete beginner to professional, working in oils, acrylics or pastels I will work with you
and do all I can to improve your work. I offer advice and will demonstrate exactly how I put my own work
together by working on a painting and explaining the techniques I am using as I go along.

Jo-Anne Clarke Had a lesson in acrylic painting. She was interested in my techniques for painting fur and
asked me to paint the cheetah shown below starting from a simple sketch. (The lion was also from a lesson
in acrylics.)

"... I had a thoroughly intensive day, learning to add
depth and perspective to my work.  I was looked
after for the whole day, and it was a great
experience.  The quality of tuition in these
workshops would certainly help anyone learn to
reach their full potential.  It really is wonderful for
an artist with so much experience to share it with
you, to help you to move forward in your own work.
 Thank you Eric"

Colin Bulpin wanted to learn about pastel painting, and I painted a lion, a tiger and a golden eagle study
during the lesson. I start these pictures at the very beginning and, explain exactly how I do them as I go along.

"Having never had an art lesson
before I didn’t know what to expect
but what I received was beyond my
expectations. I came away buzzing
with excitement and enthusiasm
wanting to put what I’d learnt into
practice. I watched as Eric produced
a tiger from a pencil line drawing
into a animal that lived and
breathed and you could reach
through the canvas and stoke it I
can sincerely recommend a lesson
with Eric, you’ll learn so much and
be energised into producing your
own works. A word of warning get
to the cakes before Eric does!"

A recent tuition day with David  Fossey.  David was specifically interested in how to render fur more
accurately in acrylics and asked me to demonstrate how I paint a tiger from start to finish.

"Eric. Thank you so much for a wonderful day. It was a privilege to meet you, see your fantastic
paintings and have the experience of seeing you work. I feel I have learnt so much. You are such a
generous, understanding and thoughtful tutor and you were so keen to make it my day. I appreciated
your helpful comments about my own abilities and you have given me the confidence to move onwards
and upwards. Your hospitality was exceptional and so generous. It was certainly an experience I shall
never forget."

"Thank you so much for such an inspirational tuition day at your
studio.  To share a passion for wildlife and art, see your
magnificent work and also be shown painting techniques by such
an accomplished wildlife artist all in one go made for a fabulous
experience and a memorable one.  Lunch was lovely and hearing
about your safari adventures was the perfect accompaniment - I
felt as if I was in the company of a friend I'd known for years!  I
hope to do it all again soon"

Hi Eric
Just a short note to say how
much I enjoyed the days
tuition. I really appreciated that
you adapted the lesson to suit
my specific needs. Watching
you work has really inspired me
to try and master the use of
pastels to the best of my ability,
I still cant quite believe you
produced the Jimmy Hendrix
drawing to such a standard in so
short a time. I would
recommend anyone seeking
advice or inspiration to spend a
day at your studio.
Many thanks and best wishes
for the future,
Steve
Wildlife-Artist-Eric-Wilson-with-Rita-Chiu Rita Chiu traveled all the way from
Australia for three days of lessons
with me.

This is perhaps the greatest
compliment and endorsement of
my abilities that anyone has ever
given me!

Thank you Rita.

“Inspiring, talented and friendly, both to wildlife nature and to me as Eric's student.....!”

It was an extraordinary journey for me to travel all the way from Melbourne, Australia to Buxton in UK.
During the valuable 3 days'  learning and teaching, I found it was the greatest gift which Eric gave me in
my artist life.

Your great personality and compassion to the natural world reflects equally in your hospitality and
drawing skills which has made my learning experience worth all the efforts.  It has definitely been a
helpful tool to pursue further in my wildlife drawings.

Eric, thank you so much for your inspiration and your lovely wife Karin's freshly-baked cakes, coffee and
wonderful conversations made my stay even more memorable and complete.
