After a day unsuccessfully waiting for animals by a pan in Zimbabwe, I drove back to
Ruckomechi camp along a dirt trail and almost missed this great creature as he stood
silently above me at the side of the track! I stopped, he raised his trunk, sniffed the air
and walked slowly past the rear of my vehicle towards the water hole. I'm sure he had
been watching me all along.
