Elephant dusting in Namibia. This scene was perfect for rendering in pastels. Pastels are superb for soft blending. The sky and the dust coming off the elephant were all done with my fingers, gently layering one colour over another. The more detailed areas were done with carbothello pastel pencils. I include some 'in progress' photographs of this painting below for the interest of fellow Artists.
Some paintings are hard work and others seem to flow effortlessly. This was a joy to paint from beginning to end which is always a good sign. The painting sold on the first day I displayed it in Tatton Hall, Cheshire, England.
The original is therefore no longer available, but I do have limited edition fine art prints on both paper and canvas available and the shipping is free! Please contact me for details.
