It's difficult for me to sketch a tiger these days without thinking of their plight. These wonderful creatures are indeed, the falling stars of our natural world.
In this pastel, originally started as a tuition day study, I have included a shooting star in the night sky. Falling stars were seen as omens by the ancients. Sometimes being a symbol of rebirth and new life. You are supposed to make a wish when you see one.
This is a rare female Amur tiger, perhaps carrying the next generation of Amur tigers. She needs all the good wishes she can get.
