This is an acrylic painting on canvas. I don't do many acrylic paintings on canvas and so this one is quite rare. This
painting of an Alaskan brown bear with cubs was all about textures and details. It took a long time to paint as there
wasn't an easy inch on the canvas. Everywhere is either fur or grass. I relish such challenges and was pleased with the
result.
The painting is also an intimate portrait of the lives of brown bears, they are wonderful mothers having on average
two cubs but sometimes more. Mothers have even been seen with five cubs but this is believed to be a case of the
mother adopting an orphaned cub which is not uncommon. Cubs stay with their mothers anywhere between two and
four years.
I keep this painting in my studio, but it is still for sale. If anyone is interested please contact me.
