Lions make for wonderful subjects. I had wanted to capture the intense stare of an African Lion for some time, and chose pastels as my medium for this one. At twenty five inches across it made an impressive painting and was sold at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art in 2004.
I have researched lions in many African countries, they are my favourite subjects and I have included a couple of photographs below, of myself in Africa with expert tracker Mark Van Zudum and of a beautiful lion in Zimbabwe who was the inspiration behind this painting..
The painting has become one of my best selling fine art giclee' prints and as such, was chosen to be the banner for my website.
Limited edition fine art prints of this painting are available on fine art papers and also on canvas. Box canvas also available. Please contact me for details.

I had an interesting email a while ago from a very polite American gentleman who liked this painting so much that he had it tattooed onto his arm! He's not the only one either, as I've had other emails sent to me since of someone with a tatoo of this painting on his back, and another with one of my tigers on his leg.
Now that's what I call appreciation of my work!
