Gorilla. I really enjoy to paint foliage, and in my wildlife paintings I
go to great lengths to make sure that it is accurate to the habitat of
the animal subject. Even the butterfly pictured on the left is one I
This painting is as much about the jungle foliage as it is about the
saw and photographed when exploring the jungle of Zaire in search
of the gorillas.
I had many encounters with the Gorillas in Kahuzi-Biega national
park and shall never forget the first time I looked into the eyes of a
wild silverback sitting calmly in his jungle home only a few feet
away.

This wildlife art painting was done in pastels on Royal Soverign Pastel card using a variety of pastels
ranging from Carbothello pencils to soft Windsor and Newtons.
